LGBTQIA+ History Month: Home

This guide highlights resources for LGBTQIA+ Month available from the OCC Library

LGBTQIA+ Month Overview

Pride flag

LGBTQ+ Month celebrates the achievements and history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other queer identifying people in the U.S. Founded by high-school history teacher Rodney Wilson, it was first commemorated in 1994. We celebrate in October to recognize the marches on Washington in 1979 and 1987.

All resources in this guide are available through the OCC Library to students, staff and faculty. This is not an exhaustive list - there is much more to find on this topic in our collections!

This guide is intended as a non-exhaustive resource on LGBTQIA+ topics. In this guide we strive to highlight the stories across the wide range of lived experience of LGBTQIA+ Americans. The OCC community is welcome to suggest resources, guides, or any other information relevant to this guide by contacting Erin Gratz.
