Scanned Chapters

This guide will help you learn how to access library resources during the COVID-19 disruption.

Request Scanned Chapters of Textbooks

Steps to Request a Scanned Textbook Chapter

  1.  First, make sure that the textbook is NOT available freely online.  To do this, search the lists for Vital Source, Red Shelf, and the free OER textbooks list. More details for accessing these textbooks is on this guide's Homepage
  2. From the library home page, click on Search the Library. 
  3. Log into your account with your OCC username and password.  This is located in the top right corner of the page.  You must do this in order to request a chapter to be digitized and sent to you.

  4. Search for the course number, e.g. CHEM A110, or the title of the book, e.g. "Introductory Chemistry".  Select to search Textbooks in the dropdown

  5. Select the Textbook and the Edition you want,  e.g. Introductory Chemistry - 8th ed. 
  6. Scroll down to Get It. If there are multiple copies of the textbook, click on one of the books.

  7. Click on Scan.

  8. On the Digitization Request screen, include 1) the chapter or page range you need and any comments/notes you may have AND then, 2) click Send Digitization Request

  9. You will receive the scanned chapter within 48 hours through your OCC email.

 

Other Things to Know: 

  • You can make up to 10 scanning requests at a time, but no more than two chapters per book
  • You should receive the scanned chapter in approximately 48 hours 

Request Books & DVDs to Pickup Curbside at the Library

Steps to Request Books and DVDs from the Library to Pickup Curbside. 

  1. From the library home page, click on Search the Library. 
  2. Log into your account with your OCC username and password.  This is located in the top right corner of the page.  You must do this in order to request a book or DVD.

  3. Search for the topic or title of the book you would like to request.  For more details on searching for books, watch the following video 

     
  4. Select the books or DVDs you want from the results list.
  5. Scroll down to Get It and click on Library Pickup, then click Send Request.

6. You will then see a screen confirming your request.

Other Things to Know: 

  • You can make up to 5 book requests
  • You can check out up to 2 DVDs for a one-week check out. They can be returned to the Book Drop in Parking Lot E.
  • You will receive instructions for pickup.  Pickup is from 1-3pm Monday to Thursday.
